I am a jewelry artist based out of Berea, KY. I was born and raised here; the artistic culture of the town had a deep influence on my interest in visual arts growing up. I feel lucky to live in a state that has gorgeous mountain views and plenty of nature to explore. I love being outside, and I often find my inspiration from the colors and patterns found in nature. I stayed close to home for college, and received a Bachelors in Fine Arts with a concentration in metalsmithing and jewelry design from Eastern Kentucky University. I knew I wanted a career in the art field, and when I took my first metals class in art school I was hooked on the processes involved. My work is made by hand from start to finish. Each piece is slightly different by human nature, and due to the results of my processes such as my kiln-fired enamel work. I specialize in enameling, because it opens up a world of color that can’t be achieved in metalsmithing alone. Aside from enjoying the processes of my medium, I chose to create jewelry because it is a way for me to connect with you all. Art is a way that people are attempting to connect with one another. I believe jewelry in particular is sentimental, often associated with an experience, occasion, or person. It has always been a dream and desire of mine, for my work to be a way for me to connect with my community. It is my hope that when someone is kind enough to purchase my work, that they know they are receiving a piece of art that represents my roots. I am a former fellow (2019-2020) of the Art Accelerator Program sponsored by Berea Tourism, a competitive year-long residency for emerging artists. When Covid hit, I moved my studio home for a couple of months. I then opened a public studio and storefront during the pandemic (October of 2020), in the Artisan Village of Berea. My work is showcased as well as select local artists. You'll find locally made pottery, prints, crocheted & knitted items, hand-dyed silk scarves, and so much more- in addition to my jewelry!
